The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Type Full-Time/Regular
Job Description:
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide food and water, and basic husbandry care.
- Cleans and sanitizes cages according to prescribed standards.
- Observes animals daily to assess health, environmental conditions, and social environment.
- Maintains accurate and up to date cage cards, animal histories, and other records as required.
- Receive and house newly arrived animals from approved vendors according to established procedures.
- Maintain housing rooms, storage areas, and procedure rooms daily including sweeping and mopping floors, sanitizing equipment.
- Practices safety, environmental, and biosecurity control methods.
- Completing duties as assigned in both ABSL-1 and ABSL-2 facilities.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of animal husbandry requirements, methods, and techniques.
- Knowledge of laboratory operations and/or procedures Foster positive and constructive workplace relations.
- Time management of assigned duties when working independently.
- Flexibility working in a changing environment.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to animal husbandry.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms and progress.
- Communicate clearly and effectively across multiple streams, computer, tablet, .
Required Skills Required Skills:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Some previous animal care experience preferred.
- ALAT certification (not required)
